Chris Sale is currently on the 15 day injured list with a right rib cage strain, He was placed on the IL on May 26 after feeling discomfort during a bullpen session, The sale is expected to miss at least six weeks which would put his return sometime in July.
Sale has been dealing with injuries since the beginning of the season, He missed his first month of the season with a flexor strain in his left elbow, He made his debut season on April 15th and went 4-0 with a 2.91 ERA in his first five starts, However he struggled since then going 0-3 with a 9.20 ERA in his last three starts.
The Red Sox are hoping Sale can return to form when he comes off the IL, He is one of the best pitchers in baseball when he is healthy and his return would be a major boost to the Red Sox’s playoff hopes.

He’s scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday June 13th, He then will be evaluated by the Red Sox’s medical staff to determine when he can begin a rehab assignment.
Sale is expected to make at least two rehab starts prior to being activated from the IL, The Red Sox have not yet announced a specific date for Sale’s return but they are hopeful he will be back in the lineup sometime in July.
