Rest, Spin and Budapest on mind as Roma host Salernitana on Monday

Must read

May 31 draws closer and closer, and the Europa League final will undoubtedly color every romanista’s final impression of the season. However, two league matches must be played before traveling to Budapest.

Tomorrow’s match against 15th-placed Salernitana is likely to be an easier task than the next match against ECL finalists Fiorentina, but the onus of securing the three points will still be on heavy rotation Roma.

14 August 2022: Salernitana 0, Roma 1

In what will be a run for the rest of the 2022-2023 season, Brian Cristante proved to be a key player for Roma in the Giallorossi’s first encounter with Salernitana. Everyone’s favorite Canadian-Italian midfielder got I Lupi off to a positive start to the season with a heads-up play in response to Tammy Abraham’s goal rebound. Get behind the net.

Interestingly, it was actually quite consistent for Nicolo Zaniolo as well. The Kid (perhaps now the X-Kid?) played a key role in turning Salernitana’s midfield into rubble and the Gialorossi into success. Unfortunately, we now know that Zaniolo’s good form did not last long. It’s certainly strange to realize that the first game of the season was the beginning of the end for him in the Roma jersey.
